Felting Newbie (Hey that’s me!)

1)      Where are you from? state/country

Headland, Alabama USA

2)      How long have you been needle felting?

About 6 months

3)      How did you learn it? Was there someone particular that introduced you to it?

Barby Anderson introduced me to needle felting. Then I became a member of the Felting Forum and have started learning wet felting as well. Felting, in whatever form, is Fun!!!

4)      Why do you like it? Do you combine it with other forms of felting like wet felting, machine felting?

I love needle felting and wool felting because it is such a versatile medium to work with. I can make wearables like scarves, hats, slippers, and I can make wall hangings, rugs or tapestries. Then there are also the dolls, animals, critters that can be felted. What I can create is only limited by my imagination.

5)      Is needle felting your hobby or your full time job/career? Do you teach needle felting? At a physical location or thru online classes? If online, where at?

It is a new hobby of mine and I am having a ball with it. I have met some wonderful felting instructors online. I haven’t found any instructors in my area but perhaps in the future…

6)      Do you have a website, brick and mortar store or location, ebay, etsy, flicker, picturetrail etc site?

You’re on my website!  J  www.needlefeltingfans.com

My Blog  www.needlefeltingfans.blogspot.com  Stop by and leave me a comment to let me know you visited!

My Flicker site is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/needlefeltingfans/

My Picturetrail site: http://www.picturetrail.com/needlefeltingfans

7)      Do you have any tips, advise, articles, recommendations or tutorials you would like to share? Do you use one needle or multiple needles? Do you have a favorite type of wool for core and surface work that is your main wool? Do you use armatures in your felties? Anything you would like to share that you feel is your particular style, preference etc that you want to share?

So far I have used a single needle and a 3 needle tool. I’ve learned the single needle is best for detailed work. I have lots of tutorials, websites and blogs listed on my Blog page that can help you find wool suppliers, kits and teachers. You can also email me for specific questions and I’ll try to help you or I may be able to steer you to the appropriate person who can. I haven’t tried using armatures yet and I don’t have any real preferences or particular style yet since I’m still new at this myself.  J

8)      What photo's of your needle felt creations would you like to share and what would you like us to know about them?

So far I’ve only made a few items. I made a cute needle felted mouse but my 19 y/o daughter confiscated it and I haven’t seen it since. Ha! But I have a needle felted rose, a needle felted board doll and a wet felted seaweed scarf I’d like to share. I'll add new creations as they come along.

9)      Anything else?

Yes, I encourage all of you to just jump right in and try it. It’s really Fun and there are so many wonderful people available to offer help, assistance and encouragement!
